Do you feel like the Lone Ranger–serving others but alone within yourself?
Being lost in a crowd is like walking out into a Walmart parking lot and not remembering where you parked your car. There’s hustle and bustle all around you, but you’re alone with your dilemma. As you turn around and around, trying to search out your own unique vehicle, the overwhelming number of possibilities befuddles your brain and causes panic. What do you do now? Who do you call on for help?
REACH OUT; REACH UP!
Jesus told three parables (stories) about lost items: sheep, coins, sons. In each parable something valuable was lost and even though there were more (sheep, coins, another son), the owner saw the one as valuable enough to abandon the rest and search for the missing item. Questions arise. Why not abandon the one and be content with what you have? Why make everyone crazy as you tear the place apart in your frantic search? Why? Because the one is as important as the many. Jesus described the joy the shepherd, the coin owner, and the father felt when the lost was found. This is how God, the Father, feels about YOU! Every soul is worth searching for and reclaiming in the Blood of the Lamb.
The next time you’re feeling overwhelmed and under recognized, remember you have a Father in Heaven who Loves You. Unburden yourself! Share what’s on your mind with those around you. Find your lost self by reaching for the outstretched hands that want to help. When a burden is shared amongst a group it diminishes; it becomes easier to carry, easier to find a solution to, easier to cope with.
Should you find that there’s no one on earth you feel comfortable to bring into your circle, call on God. Prayer, a journal, even simply talking with Jesus–as if he were sitting across from you, are all ways to relieve the load you’re carrying. Personally, I use a prayer journal for the heavy stuff. I find that I like to look back at “where I was”, when the lost is found.
