Do you hesitate to share your best items? Do you instead hoard back your chocolate, your cream, your best towels or softest toilet paper?
This is normal, for a human. But Christ showed us in so many ways that rather than hoarding back to please yourself, SHARE it with other humans. The personal sense of giving your best to others will easily replace the loss you feel when giving away your hoarded goods!
In the verses from John 12: 1-8, tell the story of Mary anointing Jesus’ feet with costly oil and then wiping them clean with her hair. Two things occurred: Mary shared; and Jesus enjoyed. When the thief and betrayer of Jesus protested her extravagant gift, Jesus reprimanded him. HIS response shows us that God does not want us to hide our best in a closet, saved for a rainy day, but to bring it out into the light and give it away with love and passion.
