Sometimes God places us in a position to help those around us…and it’s not always our own family that we are called to assist.
As you look around at your children, do you ever see their friends as part of an extended family? If you’ve ever heard the phrase regarding using an entire village of people to raise a child, then you know the meaning of caring for those around you, outside of your inner circle.
Sometimes God places those auxiliary children into your life to give them opportunity to connect with Him. When you realize that the kid has been hanging out at your house most of the time, then it could indicate the child feels safe in your household. Maybe he/she has alcoholic or addicted parents. Maybe that child has a dictatorial family in which they feel that they can never measure up, always frightened, always inadequate in their parents’ eyes. And just maybe the love you share in your family spills over onto that child’s spirit.
God sets the bar on who your children are and who you should be caring for, by taking on the entire world as HIS children. Remember next time you’re annoyed by your children’s friends that God called you to be in the child’s life, for whatever reason.
